Infrared Wireless Communications using Complementary Sequence
نویسندگان
چکیده
The performance of an infrared wireless system using direct sequence spread spectrum techniques in multipath channels depends very much on the partial correlation properties of the spreading sequences used. Ideally, a spreading sequence should have zero sidelobes in its periodic and aperiodic auto-correlation functions in order to eliminate multipath dispersion. Unfortunately, no such ideal sequence exists in the binary field. In this paper, a new spread spectrum based binary modulation scheme is proposed in which a set of complementary sequences is transmitted simultaneously such that the sum of their aperiodic auto-correlation and cross-correlation functions are impulsive or near impulsive. The system modelling and bit error rate analysis is presented. Results show that the new scheme is able to remove multipath dispersion almost completely.

Spread spectrum techniques for indoor wireless IR communications
Multipath dispersion and fluorescent light interference are two major problems in indoor wireless infrared communications systems. Multipath dispersion introduces intersymhol interference at data r a t e s above 10 Mhis, while fluorescent light induces severe narrowband interference to baseband modulation schemes commonly used such as OOK and PPM. This article reviews the research into the appl...

متن کاملTrellis-coded pulse-position modulation for indoor wireless infrared communications
We analyze the performance of trellis-coded pulseposition modulation (PPM) on indoor, wireless infrared channels. We show that maximum-likelihood sequence detection (MLSD) of trellis-coded PPM is very effective in mitigating the multipath dispersion on such channels. We present code search results for high constraint-length, rate-2/3, 8-PPM and rate-3/4, 16PPM codes. We provide bit-error rate c...
